Unconditional Love

Unconditional love,
Found me trapped in my pain
Mmmm that unconditional, that original love
Gave me hope back again

The Father feels for his child
Jesus hears each cry
But it took far more than sympathy
For him to win for me
A joy that will never run dry

Well it was late on in the evening
And the seahore sure seemed so remote
To those twelve scared disciples
In a small fishing-boat

Cause the storm clouds they were gathering
Gathering high overhead
And it looks like a bad one
That’s what the fishermen said
-
But my Jesus lay sleeping
Just as peaceful as the dove
He was dreaming of a carpenter
Or maybe of unconditional love
-
then the waves they started hopping
and lightning started popping
and the rain began to drop and it
gave no sign of stopping

and once the storm got going
that wind was really blowing
the sea it overflowed and the
sky sank down below

and you tried to keep from showing
what you couldn’t keep from knowing
that this ship was going going going down

Unconditional love
Well it’s often hidden from my sight
I’m calling Jesus why aren’t you there for me?
Lord I know you don’t care for me?
Well I’m just like those disciples that night

Unconditional love
Lift me, lift me, lift me way up above
Lift me up there, up where I can’t breathe
Though I know Lord, how soon I’ll have to leave
Cause I’m not ready to meet my saviour
It’s not time for me to go up on high
I’m not ready yet ready to meet him
Many times I’ve still got to cry
But on that morning!
On that blessed morning
When my soul is new risen
I will make that last transition
Into his Unconditional Love
All My Brothers

All my brothers
Are sons of a natural man
All my brothers but one
-
All my brothers
Were made by a mighty hand
All my brothers but one

All my brothers
Were lost from the very start
All of us but one
-
And all my brothers
Were cut to the very heart
When we saw the damage we had done

But oh my father,
Won't you show your face?
And oh, my father,
Where, where is your grace?

And who could tell his brothers
Which way to turn,
In the blackest, in the blindest night?
-
Could that first-born brother go
Where no star ever burned,
Just to bring his brothers back to light?

Could it be, could it be my brothers
When that boychild was born,
That when that young man he came of age,
-
And the heart that held such wisdom
Got took down in the storm,
They laid my brother in a borrowed grave?

But oh, my father
How could you let him die?
Oh, father, how could you let him die?

There’s a river, my brothers,
We all must cross alone
Oh but do we have to wait so long?
-
Oh my brothers
We’ve got a long way to get back home
All, all my brothers but one

And that's why I wanna bow my head
I wanna raise my hands
To the man with the power to touch my soul
To the God who understands
How I feel when I come to my saviour
How I feel when I come to my king
To my king, to sing, with all my brothers
To sing with all my brothers
And with all my brothers but one.
Kaupungista Maailmaan

Elokuu ja aurinko
ja kylmäks’ silti käy,
vastatuulissa kun vapisee.
-
Olet melkein kotona:
talo vaan ei näy,
ja edessäsi tyhjyys vaan on tie.

Tahdon tietää mitä tiedä en
tahdon ottaa elämäni vaikka opikseen
miten käy nyt, yksin Jumala tietää.
Lapsi kun lähtee maailmaan
niitä katkeria katseita tavataan
jos se väsyy, uskon Jumala sen ymmärtää.

Tehdä taipaleeni
tästä aikuisuuteen
kai mä katkeroitumatta pystyisin,
jos toi luoja taivaallinen
nostais’ jalkani mun
joskus kaduilta tämän kaupungin.

Haaveri kun saatu,
niin saattaa satuttaa;
haaveittasi sortuu,
niin kipeästi harmittaa;
-

vieden kotikaupungista maailmaan.
Travellin' On For Jesus
(traditional, adaptation Kate McGarrigle/Garden Court Music ASCAP)

Lord I'm travellin' on for Jesus night and day
Yes I'm travellin' now for Jesus night and day
I want you to make up on your mind
Sure a good friend's hard to find, Lord
Tellin' you everybody will be your friend

Tell you my mother now she's dying Lord
These many years ago
When she lay on her death bed now
She put now a whisper in my ear
(What she say Kate?)
Don't mind, don't mind
Don't mind what the people says
Ah but don't take everybody to be your friend

If you find your brother in the fault
Don't carry his name abroad
Seal it down on your forehead now
And take that home to my God
But don't mind, don't mind
Don't mind what the people says
Ah but don't take everybody
To be your friend

Some people owe you money
And they see you walking this road
Don't you know that when they see you walking this road
They will turn off another and go
But don't mind, don't mind
Don't mind what the people says
Ah but don't take everybody
To be your friend

Yes I'm travellin' on now for Jesus night and day
Night and day
Let me tell you I'm travellin' on now for Jesus
Night and day
He is the Maker of the heavens
Who be born now
From the Virgin Mary
One time he been crucified
But I know
Jesus is all of these things
Amen
Child Of Promise

Child of promise, child of prayer
Son of sorrow and daughter of care
You know your mother has cried for you
But she just can’t help you any more

Sometimes you’re lonely, sometimes sad
Feels like you’ve lost any good thing you ever had
You know your father would die for you
But that’s not quite the kind of help you’re looking for

Child of promise you know it’s true
I never have told a lie to you
Well it won’t be easy, it’s gonna be hard
But soon you’re gonna find a help so strong
You’re gonna stand firm here, right where you belong

So stand you’re gonna stand
Yes you’re going to stand
I know that you’ll stand

Child of sorrow, when it hurts so much
I believe then, right then, you can really feel Jesus’s touch
Cause there’s no child that hasn’t been blessed
And there’s no love that won’t be put to the test

That’s why Jesus, Jesus’s path was steep
Why he went without food and drink and warmth and shelter and sleep
It doesn’t come easy, doesn’t come cheap
And that’s why Jesus got taken down deep
That’s why he suffered
That’s why he cried
Why he was forsaken
That’s why he died

Child of promise, open your eyes
See where your brother is weary, see where your sister cries
Cause there’s no child that doesn’t know tears
And there will bé no chánge until Jesus reappears
And though your mother, she cries for you
But she will smile, when your promise comes true
Yes, your mother has cried for you
But she’ll smile, when your promises come true
God Has A Way Of Seeing

God has a way of seeing
He sees far and he sees true
God has a way of seeing
He sees deep in me and you
He’s watching me in the time of trouble
Time of sorrow, time of need
God has a way of seeing
And he has a way of acting when he sees

God has a way of hearing
Hears us down here from up on high
God has a way of hearing
Though he’s distant he’s right nearby
When he’s listening there in heaven
He hears music in a cry
God has a way of hearing
And I’ll have a way of hearing like that when I die

It’s a problem in the mind
It’s a problem in the heart
God and I have been too long apart
It’s a problem in the heart
It’s a problem in the soul
Only Jesus makes me whole

God has a way of knowing what you need
Has a way of feeling what you feel
Has a way of touching you and healing you
God has a way of knowing what he’s doing
In my life

There’s a problem in the mind
There’s a problem in the heart
God and I have been too long apart
There’s a problem in my heart
There’s a problem in my soul
But Jesus will make me whole
