The Illuminations get reviewed in the September issue of the Herts and Essex Music-Zine. The reviewer has lots of nice things to say about us. Though he does call a song about wife-beating and suicide 'the perfect sound for the recent summer weather'. Kate Rusby is interviewed in the same magazine. Isn't she lovely?

Roadie union dispute foils summer gig plans

Sorry to anyone who turned up for any of the gigs we'd planned this summer. Because we didn't. Due to several organisational issues such as being in the wrong countries, being marriaged, and so on. Feel free to turn up at our various houses to receive a compensatory gig. Though you have to find us first.

James gets married. Drink-fuelled dance frenzy

Congratulations to James and Bethan. They got married. To each other. To top off a lovely day The Illuminations didn't play anything. But James' other band (hiss) did. And there was mediaeval square dancing. And some nice young ladies with Leicester Small Pipes. Though they didn't play them. And Jo Eastwood was there, and she gave me some crisps. And Andrew Smith was there too.

After months of hostility towards the band’s foreign policies, beavers last night attacked Illuminations HQ. Though the insurgency was put down, two band members - Clancy and Bobo - were lost.

Celebrations lasted long into the night after the marriage of Illuminations drummer Andrew Tutton and his long-term fiancé Gertrude the Orang-Utan. “This should silence the doubters,” he said in a statement.
